Would you like to access government support for mental health (e.g. ADHD/ASD) coaching but are not sure how to go about it?

Do you want to apply for an Access to Work grant but don’t know what to say?

The DWP will potentially pay for your coaching sessions, as well as equipment and/or software, to help you do you job for up to 3 years.

Substantial government funding is available to support people with a mental health condition or disability if they are in work (or about to start work). This includes people running, or about to start, their own business.

Very few people with neurodivergent conditions apply for this grant and given the cost of mental health support and the struggle many unusually wired people have finding and thriving in a job, it makes sense to apply for it as soon as possible.

You do not need to have a formal diagnosis or any kind of certificate – you just have to have a long term condition that makes it hard for you to do your job or get to work.

How much you receive depends on how you word your application.

The process can be bureaucratic and contain jargon and specialist terms. For people with ADHD, autism or identified executive function challenges the whole process can be overwhelming and stressful so having someone there who knows the ropes can ultimately be a saving.

We can help you with applying for the grant and ensuring that you get the support you are entitled to.

Many clients have received ATW support for a range of conditions that has materially enhanced their work experience.

If you go on to have coaching with us we can ultimately claim the cost of the sessions directly from ATW so you don’t have to pay it and then claim it back.

The wait for approval can be 5 – 6 months but, if awarded, the grant can cover costs from the date you applied.

Reasonable adjustments at work

We can also advise on how to claim for reasonable adjustments at work. Many people don’t realised that employers have a legal obligation to provide reasonable adjustments to your job to take account of any disabilities you have. This can also help business owners improve their productivity and efficiency by maximising the strengths of their neurodivergent staff.

How much does it cost?

We charge £50+VAT per 30 mins to help you complete the ATW forms and advise on how to get reasonable adjustments from your employer. Up to £100 of whatever you spend on this can be set against the cost of coaching sessions with us.
